Updated! Take Action as a Web Service v1.1 – May 30, 2008

Take Action as a Web Service (TAWS) helps align business intelligence with operational systems. With TAWS, business users can leverage BI context to securely interact with their enterprise business processes.

TAWS is a framework for hosting service-oriented actions and delivering web services targeted to business users. It is complementary to “Query as a Web Service”. While QaaWS helps deliver trusted BI to any web service-enabled application, TAWS enables secured operational updates from any web service-enabled application.

With this new 1.1 release, non-developer users have the ability to design writeback services that are more powerful than ever. The new Writeback designer, while remaining an easy-to-use graphical application, now allows the expression of constraints and advanced logic. Find out all the exciting new features of TAWS with Writeback Action!

Take Action as a Web Service architecture

Take Action as a Web Service is based on W3C web services specifications SOAP, WSDL and XML and includes two components: the Take Action framework that provides methods and wizards to easily build and integrate new actions, and the Writeback action that will read script definitions and execute them using the supplied parameters on the target database.

Writing data back to the database adds a tremendous value to the BI content. Not only high value information is displayed, but the option is provided to directly interact with the data and take immediate action, while remaining in a secured environment.

Enjoy! We hope you’ll use this prototype to discover the many ways data write back can change the way people take decisions based on business intelligence content. Please give us feedback to make sure we know how you're using this and things you would like to see it do in the future. And remember, this is a prototype only and NOT for use in production environments.
